Quayclean makes ground-breaking sustainability manager appointment

Quayclean Australia has stepped up its commitment to climate change and creating a sustainable environment with the appointment of a Sustainability Manager.

The appointment of Ciara Green is the first of a series of roles to assist Quayclean and its customers take steps towards improving recycling, sustainable actions supporting those customers with ambitions of being carbon neutral and even carbon positive.

Quayclean Australia Chief Executive, Mark Piwkowski, said the company was focused on helping educate its customers and assist with the development of waste management knowledge and skills that lead towards reduction in waste being produced and achieve higher levels of recycling from collected waste.

“Our skill and knowledge must continue to develop and evolve not just as experts in site presentation, sanitisation and hygiene, but also as a significant leader in action against climate change creating sustainable work environments,” said Piwkowski.

Carbon neutral occurs when net greenhouse gas emissions are equal to zero. Carbon positive means going beyond this, making additional positive contributions to the environment.

“Quayclean are committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and know we can create a positive environmental impact in global supply chains through supporting and assisting our customers on their journey,” said Piwkowski.

Green joins Quayclean from the film industry where she was answerable to major studios including Marvel and HBO. She was responsible for all sustainability initiatives both on and off film sets and tracking the overall environmental impact of productions.

Green’s initial role will be assisting our team and Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA) achieve an 80% recycling rate within 12 months.

Her role will quickly take a wider and broader view of Quayclean’s customer portfolio and will include developing sustainable initiatives, policies and work methods.
